Our Work

Environmental Conservation

Advocating for Nature’s Conservation

3Es has been working on projects since 2011, at the time still under the umbrella of Mani Tese, focusing on environmental protection and conservation. Efforts include reforestation using native and other tree species to reduce wood consumption in domestic use. Alongside our efforts in environmental protection and reforestation in Kenya, 3Es is committed to promoting sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices.

This aligns with our goal of not only preserving the environment but also ensuring food security and improved nutrition, which are critical components of SDG 2 (Zero Hunger). Our activities include supporting sustainable farming methods that increase productivity while minimizing environmental impact, thereby contributing to a world where everyone has access to sufficient, nutritious and environmentally friendly food.

Entrepreneurship

Supporting Local Enterprises

3Es  is boosting local entrepreneurship in key value chains like dairy and recently working on coffee. In the milk value chain, the most important in Kenya, this includes working upstream to promote sustainable farming methods, animal welfare and fodder production. Then supporting actors along the value chains focusing on hygienic handling and practices and conservation. We also go beyond providing training on management and business and provide micro-grants to small producers. We have enabled as well the  creation of a milk collection center run by local entrepreneurs.

Rural Energy Solutions

Implementing Renewable Energy Initiatives

The focus is on promoting and developing renewable and sustainable energy systems, particularly biogas and solar. This includes promoting biogas stoves to reduce indoor pollution and empower women by reducing their time spent on gathering wood. We focus on reducing the pressure on biomass, reducing dependence on biomass and the fossil fuels for lighting and cooking. We reduce time poverty for women and help fight indoor pollution that causes 4 million deaths per year according to the WHO.
