Historically, they have been the primary source of food for urban areas and a key contributor to exports, solidifying the rural sector as Kenya’s agricultural hub.3E Organization places these communities at the heart of its work. Our deep engagement has fostered a profound understanding of their importance in securing national livelihoods, driving our conviction that thriving rural areas are essential for urban prosperity.
In Marigat, an arid and semi-arid region, our focus has been on empowering rural women. Recognizing their desire to provide nutritious diets amidst water scarcity and limited knowledge on health and nutrition, we have successfully implemented initiatives that enable them to cultivate their own fruits and vegetables. This has not only improved household nutrition but also generated income through the sale of surplus produce, demonstrating the power of localized solutions.
Addressing the challenge of declining coffee production in Subukia, Nakuru County, a key area for both food and cash crops, 3E Organization has implemented comprehensive training programs for rural farmers. By focusing on improved coffee production and management techniques and introducing more productive and disease-resistant varieties, we aim to reverse the discouraging trend of low yields and ensure a more prosperous future for coffee farmers.
In the productive region of Molo Subcounty, our interventions have targeted the dual challenges of degraded soils from chemical-intensive agriculture and the struggles of dairy farmers with low milk production and feeding. Through training on fodder diversification and enhanced dairy production and management, we have witnessed a significant transformation, with increased milk yields and reduced feeding burdens paving the way for dairy farming to become a significant income-generating activity.
